Festival Day Information
The New Jersey Folk Festival is under a month away! And we have made some big changes to the festival this year. We look forward to welcoming audiences to our new location on the Cook Campus, just a short walk away from our former site at the Woodlawn Mansion and Eagleton Institute. Our Performance Stage and Culture Tent are located in the Passion Puddle area of Cook Campus, directly opposite Martin Hall, 88 Lipman Dr, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. We are now closer than ever to all the actions and activities of Ag Field Day.
At our location on the Cook-Douglass campus, we will continue to have our music performances, cultural presentations, artists, and delicious food vendors. Our musical performances and Heritage Area presentations will take place under large tents.
We hope you will join us for another fabulous New Jersey Folk Festival from 10 am-4 pm on April 27th.

On our Main Stage, we will have a line-up of music and dance performances from 10 am – 4 pm, with some of our recent performer highlights like contemporary Greek folk ensemble Laki Bali and Harp and Hip Hop duo Kuf Knotz and Christine Elise, joined by Caribbean folkloric ensemble Raícies Caribeñas and the RU Bhangra dance team, and others! Our Culture Tent will feature craft vendors, demonstrations, and workshops on our theme, “Cultures of Cultivation.” Information about the lineup can be found on our website www.njfolkfest.org and more will be posted online and on our social media over the next few weeks.
The New Jersey Folk Festival is Free and Open to the Public!
You don’t need a ticket. Just show up! Donations are always appreciated and help keep the festival open to everyone. Check out our donation options here.
Arriving at the Festival and Parking:
COME EARLY! As a part of the larger Rutgers Day celebrations across the New Brunswick campus, the the festival is a part of a very vibrant and busy campus experience! Parking can be hard to find.
See the Rutgers Day website for parking and directions around campus. The Douglass Parking Deck is the closest parking location to the festival. You can also park at other Rutgers lots and take the circulating Rutgers Day bus to reach the festival. Alight from the bus at the Douglass Student Center. Limited public parking is available at Hickman Lot 79 (near Mason Gross School of the Arts).
Festival Artists and Presenters receive parking passes to park in a restricted lot.
Arriving By Train / Rutgers Day Bus Loop
If you are arriving by train or parking elsewhere on campus, there is a Rutgers Day Bus Loop that can take you to the festival. If arriving at the New Brunswick train station, there is a bus stop nearby that will take you from the Zimmerli Art Museum to the Douglass Student Center. The Zimmerli is just a block away from the train station. Make sure you get the bus going in the right direction towards the Cook/Douglass campus (the bus going in the opposite direction will take you across the River to the other campuses). Get off the bus at the Douglass Student Center.
Please note:
There are no programs or vendors located at our old site opposite the Woodlawn Mansion / Eagleton Institute. Come visit us just a short walk away in the Passion Puddle
The Festival is Outdoors, Rain or Shine!
Unless very severe weather occurs, the festival goes on. Come on out and join us no matter what. Feel free to bring your comfy lawn chairs or blankets. There is no rain date. If Rutgers Day implements a rain plan, the Folk Fest will move into the Douglass Student Center.
Food Trucks Abound at the Festival!
Food Vendors will be located throughout the Cook Campus and adjacent to our festival on Red Oak Lane! Please stop and get a snack. Please remember Rutgers is an alcohol-free campus.
ALL are Welcome!
Bring the family, and even your dog! (But please clean up after them)! This event is an important opportunity for the whole community to gather on the Rutgers Campus.
